American Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast

On February 21, Asbury Church hosted a special gathering marking the anniversary of the full‑scale war in Ukraine. The event served as a solemn moment of unity, reflection, and collective prayer for peace, for Ukraine’s defenders, for families affected by the war, and for the country’s future.

The gathering was honored by the participation of Vice Mayor Krystal Reyes, who delivered an inspiring and heartfelt address, and Chaplain and Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Oklahoma, Karl Ahlgren, who spoke about his recent time in Ukraine and shared insights from his personal experience. Representatives from many local churches and organizations were also in attendance, offering meaningful support and solidarity to the Ukrainian community.

A dedicated team of volunteers played an essential role in the event’s success. Several women worked through the night preparing an impressive array of food – pies, quiches, cupcakes, burgers, sandwiches, and cakes – enough to serve approximately 200 attendees. Their extraordinary effort reflected deep commitment, generosity, and care.

Organizers expressed profound gratitude to all volunteers who contributed their time and energy, as well as to those who continue to raise awareness about Ukraine in the United States. Through cultural initiatives, community engagement, and the sharing of Ukraine’s story, achievements, and resilience, these individuals help strengthen understanding and solidarity.

Moments such as this gathering underscore a powerful truth: the community stands united.
