Dear Friends of Ukraine,

On Friday, February 6th, the cities of Tulsa and Sumy, Ukraine are signing a Friendship Cities Declaration (Partnership) agreement in Washington DC. (Please see the agreement below).

We are incredibly appreciative of Mayor Monroe Nichols’ support of this initiative. Aron York, who has been doing an outstanding job leading the Mayor’s team, will be joining the Sumy Team for the official signing in Washington DC. Both Mayors will be participating in a virtual signing from their respective cities of Tulsa, OK and Sumy, UA.

We are excited to have the Sumy delegation visiting Tulsa from Saturday, February 7th until Wednesday, February 11th.

Sumy is a front line city, located just 18 miles from the Russian border. It is under constant attacks and strikes from the enemies drones and missiles.

The delegation is:

  • Dymtro Zhyvytskyi, a Ukrainian politician, entrepreneur, public figure, and civil servant who was the Governor of Sumy Oblast province from June 25, 2021 until January 24, 2023.
  • Serhii Dmytrenko is Head of the Department of Municipal Property for the City of Sumy
