Ukraine continues to enlarge its consular presence in the United States.
Ambassador of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna presented the Consular Patent to Karl Ahlgren, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and signed the Agreement on Consular Functions and Duties with him.
Karl Ahlgren is an American volunteer and founder of the U.S.-based nonprofit organization “Ukraine Action Plan”, who over the past several years has been actively engaged in advocacy and humanitarian efforts in support of Ukraine.
We expect that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Tulsa will enhance our ability to provide consular assistance to Ukrainian citizens across the United States, give additional impetus to the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, strengthen sister-city and sister-region partnerships between Ukraine and the State of Oklahoma, advance public diplomacy projects, and contribute to further uniting the Ukrainian community in Oklahoma.
As of today, Ukraine already has 11 Honorary Consulates across the United States, and we continue working actively to further expand our network of honorary consular offices nationwide.
Unlike career consular officers, Honorary Consuls do not provide consular services to Ukrainian citizens. However, they play an important role in promoting Ukraine’s national interests at the regional level.
Congratulations to Karl Ahlgren on the start of his work as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Oklahoma!
